eTail Germany Connect · Dragons' Den

SKUU wins the Dragons' Den.

On 14 October 2026 four start-ups pitched at eTail Germany Connect in Berlin. Each had five minutes on stage, two dragons asked questions and the audience picked the winner. Founder Djulan Gémesi pitched for SKUU, and the room voted for us.

A pitch about the Titanic.

The night before, Djulan Gémesi watched Titanic with his girlfriend. Halfway through he realised it was the story he wanted to tell.

So he asked the room to picture the dining room of the Titanic, right after it hit the iceberg. The iceberg is out of stock. Just like in the movie, nobody is running yet.

That is not the fault of the e-commerce manager. Consumers buy on trends and emotion, which nobody can predict. Collections are still bought two to four times a year, often twelve months ahead.

Retail is a set of islands, where every brand, retailer and wholesaler holds its own stock. SKUU connects those islands into one network. On his slide, a brand that was almost sold out sat next to a multibrand retailer with stock left. Connected, they had every size. It works from brand to retailer, from retailer back to the brand and between retailers.

The shop that sells keeps its customer. The shop that ships sells something it would otherwise not have sold.

What the dragons asked.

How does a retailer keep its loyal customers?

When a size is gone, a customer buys something else or leaves. With SKUU the item stays available, so the customer keeps shopping with you. Retailers can also keep their bestsellers out of the network.

Who ships when several shops have the item?

The shop closest to the customer that can ship within the service level of the selling shop. If no shop can keep that promise, the product is not matched.

What about different prices?

Stock only flows toward a shop that sells it for more, never for less. That way the shop that ships always gets the better payout.

About the session.

The Dragons' Den was part of eTail Germany Connect 2026, run by WBR (Worldwide Business Research). The session asked: “Which are the best new digital innovations to invest in to help elevate your instore and online experiences?”

The dragons were Christine Janosa, Head of Marketing & Communication at Phoenix Pharma Switzerland, and Alessandra Bosco, Director Brand eCommerce at 11teamsports. Sandeep Arora, founder and CEO of The UK Launchpad, moderated the session. SKUU pitched alongside Agile, Whitebox and Wiply.

Thank you to Ailsa Hardy, who ran the event on site, and to Christie Marshall of the WBR team.
